This weekend, two remarkable musicians: Nicholas Payton, with his new album "Bitches," performed at Birdland, while Cecile McLorin Salvant performed one song, John Lennon's "Oh my love," on the first set of Jacky Terrasson's show (and maybe on the second) on Sunday night at the Jazz Standard. McLorin Salvant's sound is very powerful.
